Professional Ballroom & Latin Dancer, Instructor, Performer, Choreographer, Lecturer,

Adjudicator, Fitness Instructor & Presenter. Director of Feather Steps Dance Academy.


The Beginning

Crystal was born in 1981, at a young age tried many types of dance from Ballet through to Disco, this is where she found her love of Ballroom and Latin dancing at the age of 10.

Starting at the Lait Dance School, in her home town of Ipswich participating in ISTD/IDTA exams and competitions.

Dancing Career

Crystal then moved on to 'Open Circuit' competitions and trained at Dance Options, Cheam. As a Junior (aged 12-15) she was established as the top UK ranked dancer in both styles.

UK Closed Champion. World Open British Junior Finalist in both Ballroom and Latin. 

In Youth, Crystal was a Regular National Finalist. Her greatest success in the Under 21 Category was Semi-Finalist in the World Open British Championships and Finalist in the World Open British Youth Ballroom Championships finishing 5th place.

Moving through her career becoming UK Ballroom, Latin and 10 Dance Champion. On all levels throughout her competitive dance career from Junior through to Professional, Crystal has danced for England representing her country in many countries all around the world, In World Championships.

As a professional Crystal was top, over all ten dances in the UK 2004. Crystal was a Regular Finalist in the Professional British National Championships for many continuous years till she retired from her Competitive Dancing in 2005.

This Summer of 2014 at the ISTD Summer Congress they brought back the Pierre Trophy. A Competition for qualified Professionals dancing only syllabus figures only, in day dress. Crystal Won this Prestigious Event after not competing after 9 years.

In January 2019 Crystal opened her own dance school 'Feather Steps Dance Academy'. This is a dream come true and couldn't be happier.

Previous to opening of her own academy the past 17 years Crystal was teaching in her childhood dance school. The Lait Dance School which at a time was one of the most successful dance schools in the country and well respected in the ISTD medalist dance scene.

Coach for Cambridge University Dance Team. Such a pleasure working with such driven talented students who work hard as a team and individuals. Undefeated Champions for 8 years running.

Crystal worked with 'Essentially Dance' a school curriculum dance education project helping to change views on dance and lifestyle.

Crystal has had the honour to Lecture for the ISTD at the Summer Congress on many occasions now. Her first lecture on 'Teaching Tips for all Ages' in Ballroom. The Second Lecture on 'Simple and Sensible Choreography for All Girls Couples' in Latin.

Trained qualified LISTD Latin and AISTD Ballroom Teacher. An experienced teacher on all levels, ages and abilities, teaching a beginner to the advanced competitor.

Crystal is thrilled to be a Committee Member of the Imperial Society of Teachers Latin Faculty.

Shows and Demonstrations

Crystal was an original member of the touring stage show 'Simply Ballroom'. As Dance Captain, Principle Dancer and Swing she became the heart of the dancers.

Over the 5 years she has toured the UK with Miss Jane McDonald and Mr Lionel Blair. Two US Tours including performing at the 'Golden Nugget Casino' in Las Vegas, and touring with the great Miss Debbie Reynolds, Living Legend.

Whilst on a resident Show in South Africa Crystal performed on the TV series Strictly Come Dancing.

'Simply Ballroom' also played in Singapore, Dubai and Abi Dabi working along side Miss Sophie Lawrence and Mr Sam Kane.

Crystal had a fantastic time working with Darren Bennett and Lilia Kopylova as Dance Captain and dancer on the production of 'Latin Fever' in the Peacock Theatre,West End, 2009 and the Summer UK tour 2010.

Crystal has travelled teaching and demonstrating on various cruise ships with Fred Olsen and P&O including the Aurora and Oriana.

Original dance member of 'WestEnd Goes Ballroom' with 'The WestEnders'. A West End meets ballroom twist singing and dancing show.

Along with dance Crystal has enjoyed working in pantomime as Dance Captain and Chorus in 'Dick Whittington' starring Jim Davidson, Orchard Theatre, Dartford.

'Cinderella' starring Joe Pasquale and 'Aladdin' starring The Chuckle Brothers in the Cliffs Pavilion, Southend.

Crystal had an amazing time starring in Brendan Cole's UK and Ireland Touring stage show 'Licence to Thrill' 13'-14' , 'A Night to Remember' 2015, 'All Night Long' 17'-18' and 'Show Man' 19'-20' Tours as a dance captain and principle dancer.

Strictly Come Dancing

Crystals greatest success to date has been part of BBC's 'Strictly Come Dancing' Series 8. In the Creation of 'Strictly ShowDancers'. Partnered with Strictly Pro Darren Bennett Dancing on the Results show on a sunday evening to the nation. Also working together with ITT Ian Waite and performed with Alesha Dixon.

This series of Strictly 2014 Crystal has had the honour to work with the Professionals as Assistant Choreographer.

The beginning of 2010, Crystal took part in Singapore's equivalent to 'Dancing with the Stars' called 'Dance Star Asia' taking the title and winning with her celebrity partner 'Paul Foster'.


Crystal has taken on a new path to her Professional career and turning her love of Ballroom and Latin Dance into Fitness. FitSteps is a Ballroom and Latin based exercise class incorporating figures and steps from this style of dance.

As a Pioneer Instructor, Crystal is thrilled to be a International Fitness Presenter and UK Trainer on board with the talented and passionate UK Training Team.
